Man United fans rejoice as Garnacho is knocked out of the Carabao Cup

Alejandro Garnacho has become the focus of mockery among Man United fans following his remarks comparing his old team, which unexpectedly had the opposite effect.

Having joined Chelsea last summer for a transfer fee of up to £40 million, Garnacho was once anticipated to be a breakout star at Stamford Bridge. However, leaving Man United under tense circumstances, after being placed by coach Ruben Amorim in the group of players no longer in plans, has put the Argentine star under significant public pressure.

Before the second leg of the English League Cup semi-final at Emirates Stadium, Garnacho made a statement that caught the attention of the Man United fan community. When asked about the possibility of a comeback after a 2-3 defeat in the first leg, the 21-year-old asserted that Arsenal is a very tough opponent at home, but also emphasized that if Man United could beat the Gunners there, Chelsea could certainly do the same.

Immediately after the match, many Man United supporters revisited Garnacho’s comments to mock the player who came through the Old Trafford academy. On forums and social media, many argued that the forward was too hasty in using Man United as an example while he himself failed to help Chelsea overcome the challenge at Emirates.

Even before the game started, some fans criticized Garnacho, questioning whether his boastful remarks were foolish.

The statement quickly spread across social media and became a topic of debate, especially given that Man United is showcasing impressive form under interim coach Michael Carrick. The Red Devils have not only improved their play but also secured three consecutive wins against major rivals like Manchester City, Arsenal, and Fulham, climbing into the Premier League’s top group.

In contrast to the resurgence of his former team, Garnacho and Chelsea endured a forgettable evening. Despite being brought on in the second half, the Argentine player was unable to make an impact. Chelsea ultimately lost 0-1 due to a late goal by Kai Havertz in stoppage time, resulting in a 2-4 aggregate defeat and elimination from the League Cup.

For Arsenal, the victory over Chelsea marked the first time under coach Mikel Arteta that they reached a final since 2020. The North London club continues to pursue major ambitions this season, still competing fiercely in the Premier League, Champions League, and domestic cup competitions.
