Cristiano Ronaldo is said to have concluded his stance on playing again for Manchester United, given the unclear prospects at Al Nassr.
According to Tuttosport, Cristiano Ronaldo has firmly decided that he will never return to Manchester United, and this idea has never even crossed the Portuguese superstar’s mind. This means that CR7’s chapter at Old Trafford is officially closed and will not be reopened under any circumstances.
Ronaldo had a glorious six-year spell at Manchester United during the early phase of his career, from 2003 to 2009. During this time, the 1985-born star secured numerous major titles including three Premier League championships, one Champions League trophy, and a FIFA Club World Cup. Old Trafford served as a crucial platform that elevated Ronaldo from a young talent to one of the world’s top players, cementing his status among the best footballers of his era.
During his tenure with the "Red Devils," Ronaldo also won his first Ballon d’Or in a remarkable career. In the summer of 2021, CR7 made a surprising return to Old Trafford, but this reunion did not go as expected. The partnership ended in November 2022 when his contract was officially terminated.
Earlier, rumors about Ronaldo making a third comeback to Manchester United had surfaced, stemming from disagreements between him and Al Nassr’s management as well as the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF). This tension reportedly led the Portuguese superstar to refuse training and to abstain from playing for the club.
Reports indicate Ronaldo was dissatisfied as Al Nassr only signed Haydeer Abdulkareem, a 21-year-old midfielder from Iraq, during the transfer window. His frustration deepened when the powers of sporting director Simao Coutinho and CEO Jose Semedo were frozen by the board starting early this month. This decision is said to have particularly angered the Portuguese star.
In stark contrast, Al Hilal, another club managed by the PIF, has been very active in the transfer market. They acquired Pablo Mari from Fiorentina and Kader Meita from Rennes, and even secured the signing of Karim Benzema from Al Ittihad as well as the young talent Bouabre from Neom.
Currently, Ronaldo’s future at Al Nassr remains uncertain. In this context, many sources suggest the Portuguese superstar might soon leave the Middle East to return to Europe, or choose Major League Soccer as his next destination, where his great rival Lionel Messi is thriving at Inter Miami.
