The quarterfinal matches at the 2026 AFC Futsal Championship have concluded, determining the four teams advancing to the semifinals: Iran, Iraq, Japan, and Indonesia.
In the first semifinal at 13:00, Iran demonstrated their strength by defeating Uzbekistan 7-4, securing the first ticket to the semifinals.
Next, at 15:00, the Thai national team—defending runners-up—fell to Iraq with a score of 2-4.
At 17:00, Japan achieved a commanding 6-0 victory over Afghanistan, earning the third semifinal spot. The team from the Land of the Rising Sun dominated throughout the match, scoring once in the first half thanks to captain Kazuya Shimizu. In the second half, they exploded offensively with five more goals, including Shimizu completing a hat-trick, securing a decisive win over Afghanistan.
In the final match, Indonesia and Vietnam engaged in a thrilling back-and-forth contest. The host nation started stronger, quickly scoring two goals to lead 2-0 in the first half. Meanwhile, Vietnam missed several clear scoring chances.
In the second half, under coach Diego Giustozzi, the Vietnamese team regained control and applied high pressing against the opposing goalkeeper. Their efforts paid off when Đa Hải scored twice, but it was not enough as the hosts also added one more goal. In the end, Vietnam lost 2-3 and was eliminated early.
In the semifinals, Iran will face Iraq while host Indonesia will take on Japan, one of Asia’s strongest teams currently.
