Secret contract leaked, could Ronaldo leave Al Nassr immediately?

A secret release clause valued at 50 million euros has emerged, permitting Cristiano Ronaldo to depart from Al Nassr should he choose to, in the context of a trust crisis within the Saudi Pro League.

Information from the Record (Portugal) has shaken the transfer market by unveiling the existence of a "secret contract" between Cristiano Ronaldo and Al Nassr.

Accordingly, the Portuguese superstar holds a release clause set at 50 million euros (approximately £43.1 million). This amount is well within reach for representatives from MLS or major European clubs aiming to bring CR7 back.

The existence of this clause suddenly became a focal point as the relationship between Ronaldo and the Public Investment Fund (PIF) deteriorated. On February 2nd, reports indicated that Ronaldo began a public "strike," refusing to play in the match against Al Riyadh.

This is seen as a strong protest against the league’s management, as he believes Al Nassr is being discriminated against compared to other teams under the same ownership.

Ronaldo’s frustration stems from the investment gap among PIF-owned clubs. While Al Hilal strengthened their squad by signing Karim Benzema, Al Nassr is considered to lack the necessary support to compete for the title. The Daily Mail quoted: "Ronaldo is unhappy with how the Public Investment Fund (PIF) manages Al Nassr’s finances, especially compared to how they treat rival clubs."

Despite a record salary of up to £168 million per year, the 40-year-old striker feels his pride has been hurt.

Sources close to the Portuguese press shared: “CR7 feels he deserves more respect, considering the crucial role he has played in promoting Saudi football and elevating the sport to an unprecedented level.” His acceptance of the ambassador role for the 2034 World Cup still seems insufficient to gain the sporting favor he expects.

Currently, both Europe and Major League Soccer (MLS) are closely watching Ronaldo’s every move. With only 18 months left on his contract but holding the power to decide via the 50 million euro clause, a summer exit from the Middle East is a completely plausible scenario.

Although PIF responded that Al Nassr had received a budget exceeding £100 million and demanded Ronaldo return to play immediately to preserve the league’s image, the pride of a legend has reached its breaking point.
