Vietnamese-French player Aymeric Faurand-Tournaire chose to drop to the French fourth tier to increase his chances of getting on the field.
Vietnamese-French striker Aymeric Faurand-Tournaire has just completed a six-month loan deal, leaving Stade Lavallois to join Vendée Foot Club La Roche-sur-Yon — a club competing in the French 4th division. This move is considered a strategic step to give the young striker more playing time, gain experience, and improve his top-level match sharpness instead of facing fierce competition in Laval’s first team.
Born in 2004 in Cordemais, France, Faurand-Tournaire carries both Vietnamese and French heritage. Standing 1.81 meters tall, with good acceleration and the ability to finish with both feet, he is regarded as a modern, versatile, and energetic center-forward. Although only 21 years old, this striker has already attracted attention within France’s youth football system.
Aymeric’s development journey involved several local academies before joining Stade Brestois 29’s academy in 2019. However, a major setback occurred in 2020 when he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury. The long recovery period seemed like it could stall his career, but the young forward persevered and returned even stronger.
In July 2022, after leaving Brest, Aymeric joined Laval on a free transfer. There, he gradually proved himself: making his first-team debut in the French Cup in November 2024, followed by his first minutes in Ligue 2 in early 2025. His positive performances earned him a professional contract just weeks later.
Given the limited number of high-quality Vietnamese-French players, Aymeric stands out as a promising talent. He is mentioned alongside notable names like Kenneth Schmidt of Fortuna Düsseldorf and the brothers Bung Meng Freimann and Bung Hua Freimann playing for FC Luzern. His move to Vendée is expected to accelerate his professional growth and open opportunities to attract attention from V.League clubs in the near future.
With his physical foundation, strong determination, and a suitable playing environment, the next six months could mark a crucial turning point in the career of this young Vietnamese-French striker.
