The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) officially establishes the Technical Department and announces key personnel appointments aimed at enhancing professional development effectiveness in the new phase.
On February 2, 2026, The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) officially announced the establishment of the Technical Department, marking an important organizational restructuring step to meet the demands of football professional development in Vietnam’s new era. Alongside this, VFF also revealed key personnel appointments to manage this unit.
According to the issued decision, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan – an officer from the VFF National Teams Department and an analyst for the Vietnam National and U23 Teams – was assigned as Head of the VFF Technical Department. Ms. Pham Thi Dung, Deputy Chief of the VFF Office, was transferred and appointed as Deputy Head of the Technical Department. Both are experienced professionals in football management and expertise.
The creation of the Technical Department is regarded as a strategic move to improve advisory, management, and implementation efficiency of football development directions in Vietnam. According to current VFF regulations, the Technical Department advises and directly executes football development strategies in each phase under the leadership of the VFF Executive Board.
One of the core responsibilities of the Technical Department is to develop and manage strategies for nurturing Vietnamese football talent. This unit also serves as the central body managing and operating the FIFA Talent Development Scheme (FIFA TDS) project, aiming to enhance training quality and competitiveness of the national teams in the long term.
Additionally, the VFF Technical Department plays a role in setting professional development directions, unifying the football philosophy “Find – Train – Play,” ensuring continuity from talent identification, training to competition at all levels, from youth teams to the national team. The department also oversees assessment, human resource training, quality management of coaches, and football academies nationwide.
With responsibilities including talent scouting, training strategy development, and youth competition system development, coach training programs and professional data analysis, the VFF Technical Department is expected to establish a scientific, systematic, and sustainable foundation. This is considered an essential basis for Vietnamese football to adapt to trends in science and technology development and to elevate its status regionally and internationally.
