Assistant coach Phạm Thành Lương shared insights regarding the injury status of defender Đoàn Văn Hậu in CAHN's win against Ninh Bình FC.
In the thrilling win of CAHN over Ninh Bình FC in the 12th round of the V-League, Đoàn Văn Hậu caused concern among fans when he had to be stretchered off early in the second half. The 1999-born defender is believed to have suffered a relapse of his injury and will likely need to take time off from playing, affecting not only his club appearances but also his potential return to the national team.
At the post-match press conference, assistant coach Phạm Thành Lương highly praised Văn Hậu's performance against the attacking stars of Ninh Bình FC and also addressed his injury condition.
Specifically, he stated: "As you all know, it has been a long time since Văn Hậu returned to play, and this was his third match after a long period of recovery. His performance today was excellent; he is gradually regaining his form and the level he once had.
Currently, Hậu must wait for the club's medical team to examine him before we have the most accurate answers."
When asked about the rough tackle by Dụng Quang Nho on Văn Hậu, which indirectly caused the former Hà Nội FC player to leave the field, "Lương Dị" responded: "Tackles from behind always carry a high risk of danger. In the current context, with referees supported by VAR technology, such incidents can be thoroughly reviewed and appropriate sanctions will be applied after the match, especially if the foul causes injury to a player."
After more than two years of continuous injury treatment, Văn Hậu only managed to return to play at the beginning of last December. Upon his comeback, the 1999-born defender quickly secured a key position on CAHN's left flank, starting in three consecutive recent matches, clearly showing the great trust coach Mano Polking has in him.
However, the latest injury will likely force Văn Hậu to miss important upcoming matches for CAHN. Not only affecting his club, the player from Thái Bình (now Hưng Yên) also faces the risk of missing the Vietnam national team’s match against Malaysia on March 31 in the final round of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.
