Hieu Minh continues to bring great news to U23 Vietnam fans

Hieu Minh has been released from the hospital and is getting ready to go back to Hanoi to start functional recovery after his operation.

On the morning of January 28, center-back Nguyen Hieu Minh was taken into the operating room at Van Hanh Hospital to undergo knee surgery following an injury sustained during play. This was a critical procedure directly affecting the young player's ability to return to the field, so the entire process was carefully prepared with the involvement of a team of experienced doctors.

After the surgery and several days of monitoring, Hieu Minh's health indicators stabilized, and the surgical wound healed well, allowing him to be discharged. However, he still experiences pain, finds walking difficult, and his sleep is not yet fully restful. The 2004-born defender currently moves with crutches and is expected to return to Hanoi within 2-3 days to rest and begin a rehabilitation program.

In an interview with Thanh Nien Newspaper, Dr. Pham Quoc Hung, who performed the surgery, stated that Hieu Minh’s injury was quite complex. The damage involved not only ligaments but also multiple structures within the knee joint, requiring the surgical team to operate with caution and precision to ensure long-term effectiveness.

The surgery lasted about one and a half hours, longer than usual. Hieu Minh suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament, a meniscus tear, and the doctors also treated the posterolateral corner of the knee joint along with other issues. Despite the extensive work, the operation was successful, stabilizing the knee joint and laying a positive foundation for recovery.

According to professional assessment, this type of injury requires long-term treatment. Doctors estimate the young defender will need about 10 months to fully recover before returning to top-level competition. If rehabilitation progresses smoothly without complications, he could make his comeback by the end of this year.

Throughout the treatment process, The Vietnam Football Federation will fund all surgical and inpatient treatment expenses under the national team player policy.This support not only alleviates financial burdens but also boosts Hieu Minh’s morale, allowing him to focus on recovery with determination to return stronger.
