PVF-CAND started the 2025/26 V-League season with many difficulties, earning only 8 points after 11 matches, with 1 win, 5 draws, and 5 losses. The police-affiliated team currently ranks 13th on the table, just one point ahead of SHB Da Nang. This record partly reflects PVF-CAND’s limited preparation time before the season began.
As a result, coach Thach Bao Khanh had to step down, making way for Coach Nguyen Thanh Cong, an experienced manager known for revitalizing struggling teams in the V-League. The nearly two-month break was seen as a valuable chance for him to strengthen fitness, rebuild tactics, and boost the team’s morale.
Although PVF-CAND secured a quarterfinal spot in the National Cup after a penalty shootout victory over HAGL, their performance was not entirely convincing, indicating that the team still has many issues to address, even with three key players returning from the U23 Vietnam squad.
On the other hand, Ho Chi Minh City Police is showing more consistent form, positioned 5th after 11 rounds. Moreover, under coach Le Huynh Duc, the team has strengthened its squad during the mid-season transfer window, aiming for higher achievements in the remainder of the season.
