Captain Mạnh Dũng believes Indonesia's level is quite comparable to Vietnam's in the 2026 AFC Futsal Championship quarterfinals.
The Vietnam futsal team will face Indonesia in the quarterfinals of the 2026 AFC Futsal Championship. Accordingly, Vietnam advanced from Group B as runners-up (2 wins, 1 loss), while host Indonesia topped Group A (2 wins, 1 draw).
Before the crucial upcoming match, Vietnam captain Nguyễn Mạnh Dũng shared:“We might face Indonesia, a team with a relatively equal level. In the quarterfinals, every team is very strong. The coaching staff will thoroughly study the opponent to prepare well and aim for a positive result.”
In the final group stage match, coach Diego Giustozzi’s squad lost 0-1 to Thailand. Reflecting on this game, Mạnh Dũng admitted:“Thailand is a very strong opponent. The whole team followed the tactics set by the coaching staff. However, they capitalized on their chances better, which is why Thailand won.”
Meanwhile, coach Diego Giustozzi emphasized his determination to defeat the opponent in the quarterfinals to advance further: “We want to continue winning to reach the semifinals and make history. I’m very proud of the players. This is a very young team; among the 14 players, 8 are making their first appearance in an AFC tournament, many only 20–21 years old. I believe this team can create a special mark in this year’s competition.”
On the other side, Indonesian player Samuel Eko expressed his determination to win against Vietnam to avenge their loss at SEA Games 33: “Of course, we want to win to settle the score from SEA Games. Especially playing at home, we have to win,” Samuel said.
The quarterfinal match between Vietnam and Indonesia futsal teams will take place on February 3 at Indonesia Arena Stadium.
