In the second friendly match during the preparation camp for the Women's Asian Cup finals, the Vietnam women's team lost 2-6 against Uzbekistan.
Concluding the series of friendlies during the training camp towards the 2026 Women's Asian Cup, the Vietnam women's team had two notable encounters with Uzbekistan, a top-tier Asian team ranked 9th in the FIFA rankings, just behind Vietnam at 6th place.
In the match held on January 30, the Vietnam women's team lost to Uzbekistan 2-6. Although the start was decent and the first half remained fairly balanced, in the second half, the Uzbekistan players accelerated significantly, constantly applying pressure and effectively exploiting gaps in the red team's formation. However, in this match, coach Mai Đức Chung deliberately experimented with many positions across all three lines, accepting certain risks in the result for long-term professional goals.
Earlier, in the first friendly on January 27, the Vietnam women's team secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Uzbekistan. The only goal of the match was scored by Bích Thùy, while the team maintained solid defensive organization and controlled the game effectively.
Overall, the two matches against Uzbekistan provided more value beyond just the win-loss outcome. Through these two games, the coaching staff gained additional insight to evaluate squad depth, players' adaptability in different roles, and the effectiveness of their playing style against a high-intensity opponent.
According to the plan, the Vietnam women's team will continue their training journey by moving to Shenzhen (China). There, the entire squad is expected to play two more international practice matches to further refine their skills, improve fitness, and strengthen team cohesion before entering the 2026 Women's Asian Cup.
