The president of the Football Association of Thailand, Madam Pang, has decided to award 1,000,000 baht (approximately 825 million VND) to the Thailand futsal team after they secured an early spot in the quarterfinals of the 2026 Asian Futsal Championship currently held in Indonesia. This bonus is considered a major morale booster, helping the players maintain focus before the final group stage match against Vietnam.

Thailand started the tournament impressively. In their opening match, they defeated Lebanon 2-0 with a solid performance. In the second round, the Land of Smiles team continued to demonstrate their superior strength by beating Kuwait 6-1, thereby firmly establishing themselves as top contenders in the competition.

After two rounds, Thailand has secured a full 6 points and guaranteed their place in the quarterfinals, just like the Vietnamese futsal team. Nevertheless, the upcoming clash between the two teams on January 31, 2026, remains significant because the outcome will determine the group leader and provide an advantageous position for the knockout stage.

Earlier, Madam Pang personally made a video call to encourage the entire team right before the tournament's opening match. The female president of the Thai Football Association also announced a 1,000,000 baht reward if the team passes the group stage, showing her close attention and strong commitment to the country's futsal development.

Coming into this tournament, Thailand carries the status of the 2024 Asian runner-up. With an experienced squad and steady form, they only need a draw against Vietnam to finish first in the group, while continuing their impressive record in continental competitions.
