Brazilian striker speaks candidly about his former club in the V-League

The clash between Thể Công - Viettel and Hải Phòng in round 12 of the 2025/26 V-League is viewed as the focal point of the matchday, with both sides neck and neck in the leading group and harboring ambitions to win the title.

Before kickoff, striker Lucao admitted he was especially excited to return to Lạch Tray – the stadium where he spent two seasons. In an interview with FPT television, Lucao said:

“I have many fond memories with Hải Phòng because I played there for two seasons. That period gave me valuable experiences, filled with both joy and sorrow. All of it helped me grow as a player.”, Lucao shared.

However, the Brazilian forward emphasized that he now belongs to the soldiers’ team and wants to continue his new journey with Thể Công - Viettel. “I cherish my memories at Hải Phòng, but right now I want to create new ones with Thể Công - Viettel.”

Lucao openly expressed his desire to win titles, while affirming Thể Công - Viettel is fully capable of keeping pace with strong rivals in the long championship battle. “I want to compete for the championship with Thể Công - Viettel in the V-League and the National Cup. I believe the team has enough strength to chase down tough opponents like Ninh Bình and Công An Hà Nội. Personally, I always have the hunger to become a champion.”

The Brazilian striker also recalled the milestone of winning the V-League in his career and hopes to relive that feeling again: “I have previously won the V-League title wearing Hà Nội’s jersey, and I want to achieve that once more. My goal this season is to conquer both the V-League and the National Cup.”

According to Lucao, his time playing for Hải Phòng helped him understand the unique atmosphere at Lạch Tray, a venue that always exerts intense pressure on visiting teams. This familiarity, he believes, will be an advantage for Thể Công - Viettel to prepare appropriate game plans, especially concerning mindset and focus.

This very understanding, he said, will serve as a benefit for Thể Công - Viettel in devising suitable match strategies, particularly regarding mental readiness and concentration.

This season, since joining Thể Công - Viettel, Lucao has scored 4 goals in 10 appearances in the V-League. Given the mere one-point difference between the two teams, his return to Lạch Tray is expected to be one of the most exciting highlights of round 12.
