Manchester United allegedly rejected Turkish Super League champions Galatasaray's under-offer for midfielder Scott · McTominne. While Ten Hag wants to keep the 27-year-old Wheat, Sir Jim · Ratcliffe's INEOS Sports will opt to sell the Scottish international if a suitable bid is received.
British media revealed that Fulham and Tottenham in the Premier League were interested in signing McTominay earlier this month. Now Galatasaray of the Turkish Super League have made an offer, but it is only 15 million euros (12.6 million pounds), which is completely short of Manchester United's expectations, so it has been rejected.
Manchester United are said to want to sell the Academy graduate, who is considered the soul of the team by fans, for at least twice as much. Turkish media confirmed that Galatasaray's offer of 15 million euros to Manchester United was rejected, and Manchester United wanted 30 million euros. But if a new midfielder is introduced, Rajue could also sell wheat at a price of €20 million.
The Turkish Super League transfer deadline is different from the major European leagues, and their deadline is September 15. Turkey note Ali · Nashi · Kuchuk said: "Let me remind you that Galatasaray signed Mauro · Icardi in September.
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has recently spoken publicly about McTominay's future, insisting he wants to keep the 'lifesaver' of last season. Wheat have been outstanding as a substitute in 2023/24, picking up 12 more points for the Reds.
Speaking after United's pre-season clash with Rangers, Ten Hag said: "I think we have very good players so they always get interest from other clubs. If you score 10 goals in a season and do well for Scotland, then you will be interested in them. We do want to keep Scott [McTominay] because he's a very important player in our team and you've seen his contribution last season. When we have a number six, he can play in a more advanced position and he's a really interesting player for our team."
If McTominay moves to Galatasaray, he will meet former team-mate Wilfred · Zaha again, but he will also be a direct rival to his mentor Jose Mourinho. In the Turkish Super League, Jose Mourinho's Fenerbahce is Galatasaray's biggest rival. Wheat is the player promoted by the "madman" at Manchester United, and the Portugal coach even invented the "Manager's Player of the Year" award to honour him, with the Scottish midfielder the only player in the club's history to receive this honour as it has only been awarded once.
Manchester United are now looking to clean Casemiro and Eriksen and bring in 23-year-old Uruguay defender Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain and Fiorentina's Morocco international Amrabat. If all goes according to plan, McTominay is more likely to stay. However, the Red Devils may not be able to do so, and if they bring in new signings at a high price, but the highly paid Casemiro or Eriksen cannot leave, then the wheat could be sacrificed and sold for money. Ten Hag could also use his favoured new Manchester United Academy midfielders, such as 20-year-old Toby · Collier, who was reused in pre-season.
Collier joined from Brighton in 2022 and is looking to have more opportunities in the new season. "It's really, really, really valuable," Collier said, "and I think it's something everybody wants to do." Everybody wants to play in the first team. So I think it's top to have that experience in a stadium like this, and an opponent like Arsenal is top too. I'm going to take it one step at a time, and hopefully get more opportunities to show what I'm capable of."
Collier added: "I think I'm doing well, but there's a lot more that could be done better. It's been great to go through a game like this and I can carry that feeling to the next game and even to tomorrow's training. The opportunity to play with Casemiro is invaluable, he's one of the best players and I can learn from him, even if it's just to watch him train. And he's there for me, he's always talking to me, helping me and my teammates, he's a real leader."
