OFFICIAL: Coach Mai Đức Chung continues to lead the Vietnam women's national team

VFF confirms that Coach Mai Đức Chung will continue to coach the Vietnam women's national team at the 2026 Women's Asian Cup finals.

This decision was made based on strong consensus between the Vietnam Football Federation and Coach Mai Đức Chung, driven by the practical need for stability, continuity, and succession in coaching, especially as the national women's team prepares for the 2026 Asian Cup finals (where the results will count toward qualifying for the 2027 Women's World Cup), scheduled for early March 2026.

After completing their duties at SEA Games 33, the Vietnam women's national team must maintain professional stability, playing style, and team management to ensure the best preparation for the continental tournament, the 2026 Women's Asian Cup finals, taking place in March next year.

With limited preparation time, Coach Mai Đức Chung, who has extensive experience and deep understanding of Vietnamese women's football along with significant contributions over the years, is regarded by the Vietnam Football Federation as the most suitable candidate to continue leading the team during this crucial period.

Mr. Nguyễn Sỹ Hiển – Chairman of the National Coaches Council, stated that appointing Coach Mai Đức Chung as head coach of the women's national team at this time is the best choice to ensure continuity in squad, tactics, and development direction, helping the team maximize past achievements and aim for strong performance at the 2026 Women's Asian Cup finals.

Head coach Mai Đức Chung expressed his honor to continue receiving the trust of the Vietnam Football Federation and affirmed that he, together with the coaching staff and players, will fully focus on preparation and strive to perform at their best at the 2026 Women's Asian Cup finals.

The Vietnam Football Federation believes that with coaching stability and thorough preparation, the Vietnam women's football team will continue to demonstrate unity, resilience, and ambition, thereby affirming the position of Vietnamese women's football on the continental stage.
