Indonesia is about to appoint a new head coach, aiming to win the AFF Cup 2026.

Throughout its history, the Indonesian national team has never claimed the AFF Cup title. This is somewhat paradoxical since recently the team, nicknamed Garuda, has demonstrated strong competitiveness in the Asian competitions.

Indonesia has consistently participated in this tournament since the AFF Cup started in 1996, appearing 15 times, but their highest achievement remains finishing as runners-up.

Garuda has secured the runner-up spot six times, the most among participating teams, in the years 2000, 2002, 2004, 2010, 2016, and 2020.
