Cristiano Ronaldo left his mark in Al Nassr’s commanding victory against Al Zawraa during the last round of Group D in the AFC Champions League 2.
Al Nassr, a powerhouse in the Saudi Pro League, finished the AFC Champions League 2 group stage with a perfect winning record after beating Al Zawraa 5-1 at home.
The home team dominated from the early minutes and opened the scoring at the 12th minute. Coman broke the deadlock following a quick combination with Angelo Gomes, finishing neatly inside the penalty area. Just seven minutes later, Wesley doubled the lead. Joao Felix headed a corner kick but was blocked, and the rebound fell perfectly for Wesley to score on the follow-up.
Al Nassr kept up the pressure and netted a third goal before the 30th minute. Abdulelah Al Amiri rose high to head in a corner delivered by Felix. In the final moments of the first half, the Portuguese midfielder also made his mark with a goal of his own. From a smooth attack down the right flank, Coman passed to Ronaldo at the edge of the penalty box. The 40-year-old superstar controlled the ball briefly before delicately chipping it for Felix, who chipped the ball over the opposing goalkeeper in one touch.
In the second half, Al Zawraa scored a consolation goal at the 50th minute through Ibrahim Gbadamosi. However, all hopes for the Iraqi side were quickly extinguished when Coman completed his brace in the 56th minute, sealing a dominant 5-1 victory for Al Nassr.
With this result, Ronaldo and his teammates completed a streak of six consecutive wins in Group D of the AFC Champions League 2, earning a perfect 18 points and securing first place along with a spot in the round of 16.
