Vietnam’s U19 futsal squad created a “shockwave” at the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 Futsal Championship when they demolished Brunei with an unbelievable 18-0 scoreline in their opening match on the evening of December 24. This victory immediately drew strong attention from Thai media, especially since Brunei had previously only lost 0-9 to the host Thailand.
Right after the match, numerous Thai futsal fanpages and news outlets spoke out. The tournament runs from December 23 to 29, 2025, at Nonthaburi Provincial Gymnasium, played in a single round-robin format, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semifinals.
With the emphatic win over Brunei, Vietnam’s U19 futsal team has secured an early spot in the semifinals. The upcoming match against host Thailand is considered by regional media as the “Group A final,” carrying decisive significance for the top position and pride between the two leading futsal nations in Southeast Asia.
