Vietnam’s U19 futsal side crushed Brunei 18-0 in their first game at the 2025 AFF U19 Futsal Championship.
The U19 Vietnam futsal team made an impressive debut at the 2025 AFF U19 Futsal Championship by securing a dominant 18-0 win against U19 Brunei, marking a strong start to their campaign in the regional competition.
The commanding 18-0 triumph not only earned the U19 Vietnam futsal team a full 3 points but also gave them a significant advantage in goal difference after the opening round. Compared to Thailand’s 9-0 win over Brunei in their first match, Vietnam’s 18-0 victory impressed Southeast Asian fans even more.
Some fans left humorous and interesting comments about Vietnam’s U19 futsal victory, such as: "Brunei’s new jersey looks great but it clearly didn’t help them withstand Vietnam’s attacks" or "Someone please tell me this is the match duration, not the scoreline, it’s unbelievable."
However, there were also comments reminding the U19 Vietnam futsal team that Brunei is a very weak opponent and nothing is certain yet: "Don’t celebrate too soon, the real match is tomorrow when U19 Vietnam faces Thailand, stay focused" or "Brunei gave their best effort anyway," "Don’t mock them, the Brunei players don’t deserve that."
With their superior strength, the U19 Vietnam futsal players quickly took control of the game, dominating the match and constantly applying heavy pressure on the opponent’s goal. Vietnam broke the deadlock early in the first half and built a large lead thanks to their diverse and effective attacking tactics.
Do Tuan Vu started the goal rush with two goals at minutes 4 and 33. Hoang Minh Thuc also made his mark with two goals at minutes 7 and 14. Nguyen Thac Hieu and Nguyen Tho Minh Huy both shone brightly by scoring hat-tricks, with goals at minutes 9, 18, 26 and 14, 21, 27 respectively. Nguyen Huynh Tuan Viet netted a brace at minutes 20 and 28, while Tran Le Bo (minute 23), Vu Dai Hoc (minute 26), Pham Quang Huy, and Nguyen Minh Luong (both scoring at minute 38) also added their names to the scoreboard. Additionally, U19 Brunei scored two own goals at minutes 21 and 34.
This result reflects the thorough preparation, squad depth, and strong determination of coach Nguyen Anh Khoa’s team at the inaugural AFF U19 futsal tournament.
