Closing Ceremony of the 2025 Goalkeeper Coach Certificate B Course

On December 22, 2025, in Da Nang City, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) organized the closing event for the 2025 Goalkeeper Coach Certificate B Course, concluding the professional training carried out over two stages.

The course was conducted in two stages: the first phase from June 10 to 13, 2025, in Ho Chi Minh City, and the second phase from December 19 to 22, 2025, in Da Nang City. Throughout the course, participants completed theoretical assessments, practical field exercises, and homework assignments given by instructors between the two phases to ensure continuity and depth in training.

The main instructor was Mr. Kato Yoshio – a FIFA/AFC/JFA certified coach with extensive experience, having led over 50 courses appointed by FIFA and AFC, and co-founder of Japan's goalkeeper project. Mr. Kato has played and coached Japanese goalkeepers at FIFA World Cups and personally trained Vietnam’s first “A” level goalkeeper coaches. Assisting him were two Vietnamese assistant coaches: Coach Nguyen The Anh and Coach Chau Tri Cuong.

The course also received many positive feedbacks from participants. Coach Lai Thi Tuyet – coach of the Ha Nam women’s football club (recently Ninh Binh), the only female goalkeeper attending, stated she learned many modern coaching methods, questioning techniques, how to connect goalkeepers with the defense line and head coach, as well as improving confidence in presentations and leadership roles.

Representatives of the trainees, Coach Duong Hong Son (Hanoi Club – Class Leader) and Coach Nguyen Tuan Manh (Khanh Hoa Club), highly appreciated the practical value of the course, which helped shift coaching mindset from experience-based to scientific approaches, enhanced teamwork, and deepened understanding of the goalkeeper’s crucial role in the team.

At the end of the course, participants expressed their desire to continue learning and improving their professional skills to make meaningful contributions to their clubs, localities, and the overall development of Vietnamese football in the context of integration and progress.
