Although they just defeated Brunei 9-0, the Thai U19 futsal coach is still very wary of Vietnam's U19 futsal squad.
Head coach of Thailand’s U19 futsal team, Boonyalert Charoenwong, spoke in an interview following their opening match at the Southeast Asian U19 Futsal Championship, where Thailand beat Brunei 9-0 on December 23rd. He expressed satisfaction with the scoreline but pointed out that the team still has weaknesses in converting many scoring chances into goals. Defensively, he praised the players for their excellent performance and keeping a clean sheet.
Coach Boonlert continued: "Overall, although Brunei was well-prepared, based on our training sessions, I believe we can perform even better. I hope my players will improve with every match."
“Regarding the next match against Vietnam, they are definitely a strong team in ASEAN, but we have also prepared a strategy. Previously, when I coached Myanmar’s national team, we managed to hold Vietnam’s national team to a draw. Their playing style isn’t much different from the national team. Of course, we will have a different plan compared to the one used against Brunei. We need to pay attention to every detail,” Coach Boonlert stated.
Sarawich Sirisawat, who scored twice in this match, said it was a very exciting game, but admitted his finishing was not at its best and he missed too many chances. He mentioned that his teammates played very well together, and he regretted not achieving a hat-trick despite trying hard. He added that the team’s victory was good enough. About the upcoming game against Vietnam, he acknowledged their strength but believes they can overcome them.
The next match for Thailand’s U19 men's futsal team will be the second match in Group A at the Southeast Asian U19 Futsal Championship, facing Vietnam at Nonthaburi Stadium on December 25th at 8:00 PM.
