Lionel Messi's sister was forced to delay her wedding due to an unfortunate severe car crash.
Maria Sol Messi, the sister of Lionel Messi, reportedly sustained multiple serious injuries in the accident, including a spinal fracture and burns. Argentine TV journalist Angel de Brito revealed, Messi's mother confirmed that she is no longer in life-threatening condition but will require a long period of treatment and recovery.
The incident occurred in Miami when Maria Sol lost control of the vehicle she was driving and crashed into a wall. On the LAM program of America TV, Angel de Brito stated that the Messi family had to postpone the wedding planned for January 3rd in Rosario, Argentina, due to her health condition.
According to family sources, Maria Sol suffered burns alongside severe spinal injuries and has begun rehabilitation in Rosario. Her mother, Celia Cuccittini, confirmed her daughter remains stable after the accident.
Specifically, Maria Sol broke two vertebrae, fractured her heel and wrist. Therefore, the wedding will be rescheduled. Celia also mentioned that her daughter lost consciousness and hit the wall hard during the crash.
Some reports from Argentina suggest Maria Sol was driving a pickup truck at the time of the accident. However, Angel de Brito initially mentioned the family suspected the burns might have come from a motorcycle fall, though this detail has not been confirmed.
Previously, Maria Sol planned to marry Julian Tuli Arellano, a member of the U19 Inter Miami coaching staff, in their hometown of Rosario. Lionel Messi also held his wedding with Antonela Roccuzzo in this city. The entire Messi family, including the star currently playing for Inter Miami, was expected to attend.
Like her famous brother, Maria Sol met her partner during childhood as they grew up in the same neighborhood. This fashion designer and entrepreneur has kept a low profile, having lived in Spain before returning to Argentina to pursue her own projects.
