The information that Malaysia is soon to be handed a loss by AFC against Vietnam has caused a stir among Southeast Asian football fans, with many celebrating and claiming "justice has prevailed."
Reports indicate that the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) is about to be penalized by AFC with a 0-3 loss against Vietnam and Nepal in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers, becoming the hottest topic on Southeast Asian social media. Numerous regional fans are gleeful, viewing this as the "price to pay" for Malaysia’s violations.
According to Seasia Goal, an official from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) confirmed that Malaysia will certainly be punished for fielding ineligible players during the qualifying matches. The games against Vietnam and Nepal will be forfeited 0-3, a penalty similar to the disciplinary action previously imposed by FIFA.
While Malaysian public opinion remains silent, Southeast Asian fans have erupted in response. Hundreds of comments appeared across social media platforms, expressing a mix of anger and sarcasm.
On football forums, Southeast Asian supporters quickly shared their views on Malaysia’s impending defeat. Many Indonesian fans expressed excitement, believing that justice has finally been served. User Muhammad Alfarezi wrote: “Congratulations to Vietnam, see you at the Asian Cup 2027!”, while Arief commented: “Thank God, justice has finally come for Vietnam and Nepal.”
Not only Indonesian fans, but Singaporean supporters also agreed with the sanctions imposed by FIFA and AFC. User Jack Boh stated: “FIFA’s punishment is fair. Hopefully, Malaysia will stop cheating in the future.”
Even a South Korean fan named Choi Jiwoo offered a gentle but meaningful message: “Wishing Malaysian football a swift recovery from this crisis.”
These comments reflect the general sentiment of regional fans who are both outraged by the wrongdoing and relieved that “justice for Vietnam and Nepal” has finally been enforced after a long wait.
