Nguyễn Tuấn Anh, Head Coach of Vietnam's U19 Futsal Team, shared important statements before the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 Futsal Championship.
On the afternoon of December 20, the Vietnam U19 futsal team departed for Thailand to participate in the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 Futsal Championship.
In preparation for this competition, the team gathered for training starting November 16 at the Chánh Hưng ward futsal arena (Ho Chi Minh City) with 20 players called up, under the leadership of Head Coach Nguyễn Tuấn Anh. After more than a month of training, the coaching staff finalized a squad of 14 players as per the regulations before departure.
On the afternoon of December 22, Head Coach Nguyễn Tuấn Anh represented the Vietnam U19 team at the pre-tournament press conference for the Southeast Asian futsal championship. The captain of Vietnam’s U19 futsal squad confirmed that the team has made the best preparations and confidently set the goal of at least advancing beyond the group stage:
“To prepare for the tournament, the Vietnam U19 Futsal team has trained for about seven weeks. Everyone is currently in top condition—technically, tactically, and mentally. This tournament will provide teams with valuable experience and help build future generations. Our objective is to perform at our best in every match and reach the semifinals.”
According to the draw results, at the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 Futsal Championship, Vietnam’s U19 futsal team is in Group A along with Thailand and Brunei. Group B includes Indonesia, Myanmar, and Malaysia. The tournament runs from December 23 to 29, 2025, at Nonthaburi Provincial Stadium, using a round-robin format within each group to select the top two teams from each group to advance to the semifinals, competing for a place in the final.
According to the schedule, Vietnam’s U19 futsal team will face Brunei at 8:00 PM on December 24 and then host Thailand at 8:00 PM on December 25. All Group A matches will be held at Nonthaburi Provincial Stadium (Thailand).
The AFF’s inaugural organization of U19 futsal tournaments is regarded as a significant milestone for the development of youth futsal in Southeast Asia, providing young players with opportunities to compete and gain international experience. The Vietnam U19 futsal team aims to demonstrate strong professional skills and accumulate essential international match experience to become the next generation of the national team in the near future.
