The 18-year-old Vietnamese-European player impresses in Europe, valued far above Văn Hậu and quickly attracting attention.
Lenn-Minh Trần, born in 2007 with Vietnamese-Belgian heritage, is becoming a highly notable figure in Europe. After signing his first professional contract with MVV Maastricht and regularly playing in the Dutch second division, his transfer value has soared to 325,000 Euros according to Transfermarkt.
This figure is strikingly higher than many professional Vietnamese defenders, including Đoàn Văn Hậu. While Lenn-Minh Trần’s value steadily rises due to consistent performances, Văn Hậu’s worth has dropped significantly because of a lengthy injury hiatus.
According to Transfermarkt data, Văn Hậu was once valued at around 300,000 Euros. However, a complicated Achilles tendon injury required surgery and extended treatment, effectively freezing his market image. Currently, his value has fallen to about 150,000 Euros. Nevertheless, if he maintains fitness and stable form, Đoàn Văn Hậu could raise his transfer value again soon.
Meanwhile, Lenn-Minh Trần is heading in the exact opposite direction. Developed at the renowned KRC Genk academy, twice Belgian U18 champion, and experienced in the UEFA Youth League, the 18-year-old defender quickly adapted after moving to the Netherlands and was given regular playing time. Notably, he has represented Belgium’s youth national teams at various levels, including 10 appearances for U16, 2 for U17, and 3 for Belgium U19.
In the current season, Lenn-Minh Trần has played over 1,600 minutes, demonstrating strong trust from Maastricht’s coaching staff. Consistent play in a competitive environment helps him develop tactically, physically, and in ball control, which rapidly boosts his market value.
At present, Transfermarkt lists his value as double that of Văn Hậu, creating an interesting comparison between a seasoned Vietnamese national team star and a promising young Vietnamese-European talent flourishing in Europe. If he continues his form, Lenn-Minh Trần is expected to increase his value even further soon and promises to be a bright Vietnamese-European player who could contribute to Vietnam’s national teams in the future.
