Vietnam U19 futsal coach sets clear goals for the Southeast Asian Championship

Coach Nguyen Anh Khoa mentioned that the Vietnam U19 futsal squad's objective is to get past the group phase and make it to the semifinals of the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 Championship.

According to the draw results, at the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 Futsal Championship, the Vietnam U19 futsal team is placed in Group A alongside Thailand and Brunei. The tournament will be held from December 23 to 29, 2025, at the Nonthaburi Provincial Gymnasium, featuring a single round-robin format within each group, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semifinals to compete for a place in the final.

Speaking at the press conference before the 2025 Southeast Asian Futsal Championship, Vietnam’s coach Nguyen Anh Khoa confirmed that the entire team is in peak condition and ready to compete: “To prepare for the tournament, we gathered players under 19 years old and had about 7 weeks of training. Almost everything is assessed to be in very good condition, both physically and in terms of the players’ technical and tactical skills,” the head coach shared.

Regarding their goals for the competition, Coach Anh Khoa said the team aims to get through the group stage: “I believe this tournament will provide each team with valuable experience to develop a new generation of players. Our goal is to help the players perform well and at least reach the semifinals.”

Meanwhile, the head coach of Thailand’s U19 futsal team declared: “Our goal, of course, as the Thailand national team and playing on home soil, is to win the Southeast Asian Championship this time.”

On the other hand, Brunei’s U19 head coach affirmed that facing Vietnam and Thailand in the group stage is a “great medicine” for his players:“Competing against strong teams in the group like Thailand and Vietnam is a good opportunity for us to assess our players’ development because during preparation, we focused heavily on both fitness and morale.”

According to the schedule, the Vietnam U19 futsal team will face Brunei at 8:00 PM on December 24 and then play against host Thailand at 8:00 PM on December 25. All Group A matches will take place at the Nonthaburi Provincial Gymnasium (Thailand).
