What will be the score when Arsenal beats Everton?

Former football star Chris Sutton recently predicted the outcome of the match between Everton and Arsenal in the 17th round of the 2025/26 Premier League.

Arsenal will travel to Merseyside to face an Everton side struggling with squad issues and poor form. Naturally, Arsenal's goal is to defeat Everton to maintain their position at the top of the league table. Just a few days ago, Arsenal experienced a dramatic game against Wolves, where they won thanks to two own goals from the opposition. After a busy schedule, Mikel Arteta’s team has now stabilized with a valuable full week of rest to prepare for the match against Everton.

In contrast to the visitors’ freshness, Everton is in a very difficult situation due to personnel problems. Following a heavy loss to Chelsea, David Moyes’ squad received more bad news as two key players, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Jack Grealish, are both facing serious hamstring injuries. Their chances of playing against Arsenal are low.

Notably, Dewsbury-Hall is almost certain to miss the match after posting a message on social media: "Well, I’m having a bit of trouble. See you all soon.”. This implicitly confirms he will be sidelined for at least a few weeks and will definitely watch the Arsenal game from afar.

BBC Sport expert Chris Sutton believes these losses will make it difficult for Everton to cause an upset against the league leaders Arsenal, but the former Chelsea player also doesn’t think the London club will have an easy game: “Arsenal was very lucky to beat Wolves, but that’s a sign of a champion, when they always find a way to win even when playing unconvincingly and facing many difficulties.”

Sutton also emphasized that the absence of Idrissa Gueye and Iliman Ndiaye due to AFCON participation, along with other squad issues mentioned earlier, will be a major blow to David Moyes’ plans for the match against Arsenal: “Everton is facing personnel problems. It’s a shock for Everton because Ndiaye is particularly influential. Losing both Dewsbury-Hall and Grealish would be even worse for the club. I think Arsenal’s superiority is undeniable. They will win against Everton, but I don’t expect it to be an easy result. A 1-0 win for Arsenal is what I’m thinking.”
