Manchester United is still struggling to regain their lost glory, and recently, Sir Alex Ferguson, who laid the foundation for the club's golden era, made a statement that saddened many supporters.

According to the Scottish legend, Man United might have to wait another decade before having a chance to win the Premier League again, although he still expressed support for coach Ruben Amorim.

Since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013, Man United has never managed to reclaim their once dominant status. Six managers following him—David Moyes, Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and Erik ten Hag—have all left in disappointment.

In this context, Ruben Amorim is expected to be a new architect for the rebuilding of Old Trafford. Sir Alex Ferguson acknowledged that Amorim is a strong-willed manager who is not easily overwhelmed by pressure. However, he also emphasized that Man United is currently entering a cycle very similar to Liverpool’s past, a club that took 31 years to reclaim the English throne.

"We are now in a similar situation. It could be 10 years, maybe 11 years, that’s a cycle. Everything must be carefully planned, and we have to ensure that player recruitment is better than what was done before."- Sir Alex shared.

According to Sir Alex, the core problem for the Red Devils is not just the coaching staff but the long-term strategy, especially in player recruitment. He believes that without building a systematic and consistent transfer system, the Red Devils will hardly achieve sustainable success.

Nevertheless, a positive sign is that Man United under Amorim has shown some improvement. The recent summer transfer window was highly praised by Sir Alex, particularly the signing of young goalkeeper Senne Lammens. At 23 years old, Lammens brings stability, good ball-playing skills, and fresh energy to the defense. Additionally, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha are seen as important pieces capable of helping Man United out of the dark phase.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s warning might make fans feel uneasy, but it is a truth that needs to be acknowledged frankly. Ruben Amorim may be a promising coach, but to bring Man United back to the Premier League summit, he requires more patience, a long-term plan, and above all, unity from the top management down to the locker room.
