Manchester United has lodged a complaint with Weber over refereeing errors! It is revealed that Amolin will deploy a 4-4-2 formation, making this season’s outcome hinge on this decision.

According to the British Telegraph, Manchester United’s head coach Ruben Amolin will continue to use a "flexible 4-4-2" formation in the coming weeks to cope with the absence of Mbeumo, Amad Diallo, and Mazraoui due to their participation in the Africa Cup of Nations.

These three players have already left the club to participate in the tournament in Morocco. The exact duration of their absence depends on their national team’s progress; even if they exit at the group stage, they will miss at least the Premier League matches away at Villa, and home games against Newcastle United and Wolves.

In the match against Bournemouth, Amolin modified his previously consistent 3-4-3 formation from the past year, often fielding four defenders during the game. Although the Red Devils conceded four goals, Amolin was pleased with his newly designed tactics and is expected to adopt a four-back system in the coming weeks to address the impact of the Africa Cup of Nations.

The absence of Mbeumo, Amad, and Mazraoui has significantly affected Manchester United’s right flank. However, with striker Szeszko back from injury, Amolin has more options for his lineup. He must achieve good results during the congested Christmas and New Year schedule to at least remain in the top-four race. This period is critical for meeting Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s target of qualifying for at least the Europa League this season.

According to the British Daily Mail, at a crucial point in the season, Manchester United has met with Premier League referee chief Howard Weber to file complaints about a series of controversial decisions. The club’s leadership believes the team has been unfairly treated in several key refereeing calls this season, which has affected their performance.

Weber, head of PGMO, is responsible for Premier League referee appointments and assessments. Interestingly, he was once mocked as a "United-biased referee," aiding legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson in establishing the Red Devils’ dominant era. British media reports that Amolin did not attend this meeting, which was handled by the club’s management. Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS team believes that too many referee errors have occurred in United’s matches; otherwise, the team might be placed higher than sixth.

It is reported that in October, Weber admitted to Manchester United that the decision not to send off Brentford’s Nathan Collins was a mistake. The Bees captain fouled Mbeumo inside the penalty area, denying a clear scoring opportunity. Although this decision did not affect the final result, with United winning 3-1, CEO Omar Berrada and sporting director Jason Wilcox sought an explanation from the referee chief after the match.

Other decisions that Manchester United felt were unjust include Wan-Bissaka not receiving a red card in the draw against West Ham. The former Red Devils player committed a reckless tackle on Patrick Doucoure despite already having a yellow card, yet referee Andrew Kitchen did not issue a second booking. Additionally, in the 4-1 victory over Wolves, home defender Emmanuel Agbadou handled the ball in the penalty area, which was confirmed by VAR, but referee Michael Salisbury did not award a penalty.

PGMO has acknowledged to Manchester United that each of these incidents was indeed a refereeing error. However, the club is dissatisfied with the lack of improvement and has demanded explanations and commitments from Weber. Both Manchester United and PGMO have declined to comment on this report.

In the 4-4 draw with Bournemouth, the Red Devils were also unhappy with refereeing decisions. Fans believe that two handballs by the away team inside the penalty area were missed penalty calls, and that Semenyo’s chokehold on Diogo Dalot should have resulted in a red card.
