Has Bayern successfully made a huge demand? They have reached a renewal agreement with Upamecano, who once requested a €20 million signing bonus.

Talented players nowadays tend to ask for high salaries and substantial signing bonuses, and this situation has occurred with Bayern's key central defender Upamecano.

According to the latest report from the German media outlet Bild, Bayern has reached a preliminary renewal agreement with their 27-year-old French center-back Upamecano, with only the release clause terms still under discussion. Upamecano wants a release clause included in the new contract, while Bayern's release clause will only take effect in 2028. This means Bayern and Upamecano have agreed on salary and signing bonus terms.

Upamecano, currently 27 years old, is at the prime age for a central defender. His market value on Transfermarkt stands at €70 million, and his existing contract runs until the end of this season (June 2026). Earlier German media reports revealed that Upamecano demanded a €20 million annual salary from Bayern, along with a €20 million renewal signing bonus.

Bayern and Upamecano have reached a preliminary renewal agreement, indicating that Upamecano's hefty demands have been met, with an annual salary around €20 million and an additional signing bonus close to €20 million.
