The Vietnam women's futsal team achieved a historic milestone atthe 2025 SEA Gamesby defeating Indonesia with a commanding 5-0 score in the final, thus winning their first prestigious gold medal.
Indonesia was the team that caused a major upset in the semifinals by eliminating the defending champions Thailand. Therefore, few expected coach Nguyễn Đình Hoàng’s team to win so easily. From the start, Vietnam’s women’s futsal played confidently and proactively. In the 6th minute, Thanh Ngân scored the opening goal with a fierce shot after receiving a pass from the second line. Just one minute later, Indonesia’s defense was still unsettled when they conceded again. Bùi Thị Trang provided a perfect assist for Thanh Ngân to finish into an empty net, increasing the score to 2-0.
Indonesia’s shock only deepened in the 8th minute. After a shot that goalkeeper Agustin failed to catch, Thùy Trang rushed in lightning-fast, easily extending Vietnam’s lead to 3-0. The large margin left Indonesia disoriented, while coach Nguyễn Đình Hoàng’s players maintained their dominant rhythm.
