The Chelsea legend, Thiago Silva, might stage an unexpected return to the Premier League as four teams vie to acquire the Brazilian center-back.
After spending four years at Chelsea, Thiago Silva left Stamford Bridge in 2024 when his contract expired. The veteran defender then chose to return to his homeland Brazil to play for Fluminense in July 2024, signing a two-year deal.
Although he has frequently expressed a desire to retire with his childhood club, recent reports indicate Silva may leave Fluminense earlier than planned, and he has even said his goodbyes to teammates.
According to the latest information, Silva has a chance to rejoin the Premier League. Born in 1984, the defender joined Chelsea from Paris Saint-Germain in 2020 at age 36, quickly becoming a defensive cornerstone and helping The Blues win the Champions League in 2021.
In total, Silva appeared in 113 Premier League matches, contributing to 32 clean sheets during his time with Chelsea.
Although he has returned to Brazil, Silva’s children remain in London to continue training and playing within Chelsea’s youth academy. For this reason, according to Globo Esporte, the Chelsea legend is considering a comeback to Europe, prioritizing an English club to stay close to his family.
If he returns to the UK, London clubs are considered the most likely to sign the 41-year-old defender, with West Ham United, Fulham, Crystal Palace, and Brentford seen as leading candidates.
Additionally, Italian media reported Silva might reunite with AC Milan, while transfer expert Fabrizio Romano stated he also has offers from the Middle East or MLS (USA).
Nevertheless, Thiago Silva’s future remains uncertain: he may continue playing or conclude his illustrious career and retire.
However, with the World Cup taking place next summer, Silva might consider signing a short-term contract to keep his hopes alive for a spot on Brazil’s squad for the world’s biggest football event.
