Manchester United's 30 million request to buy the left gate was rejected, and Lecce hinted that it must be added to 10 million! The player is keen to join the Red Devils

Manchester United and Serie A Lecce have officially opened transfer talks to bring in 20-year-old Danish left-back Patrick Dolgu. Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano said: "Manchester United met directly with Lecce in Milan on Tuesday to discuss a move for Dorgu. The two sides have yet to agree on a fee, with Lecce asking for €40 million and Manchester United starting with an offer of €30 million. Napoli also have an interest in Dolgu and they are willing to loan him back to Lecce."

Sky Sport Italia reports that Manchester United transfer officials Matt Hargreaves, Leon Angel and Frank Trimboli spoke in Milan with Lecce director Pantaleo Corvino and president Saverio Stitch Damiani.

Lecce president Damiani has confirmed that United are indeed interested in Dorgu. But there is bad news for Ruben Amorim, as the Serie A club have publicly stated that they have no plans to let the player go, an attitude that is clearly asking the Red Devils to add money.

Lecce only recently renewed Dolgu's contract until 2028, and they have the absolute initiative. Moreover, there are quite a few clubs interested in this player, which is more suitable to "raise the price" to Manchester United. "We met with Manchester United and told them that our plan is to keep key players in the squad, including Dolgu, and we are happy that Manchester United have come to make an offer, but our goal of staying in Serie A is crucial," said Daminia.

Lecce only spent a paltry £200,000 on the signing of Dolgu from Denmark, so they will make a fortune anyway. It is no surprise that Lecce did not want to let the player go easily, as Dolgu has become a popular player thanks to his versatility and technical ability, having already played in four positions this season, playing not only as a left and right wing-back, but also as a left and right winger. In 20 Serie A games this season, Dolgu has scored three goals and provided one assist.

Dolgu himself is believed to be eager to join Manchester United, and his agent, Kingsley Ogbodo, has shared a photo of himself at Manchester Airport, hinting at his whereabouts.

Fabrizio Romano detailed: "This is a real opportunity for Manchester United, who have travelled to Italy to make direct contact with Lecce. Therefore, there will continue to be dialogue and negotiations between Manchester United and Lecce. Lecce's initial idea was to sell the player in the summer rather than in the January transfer window. As a result, they prefer other clubs such as Napoli, who are willing to complete another deal in the summer window. But United are ready to try to start concrete talks and make an offer, and they feel the player is absolutely eager to move to the Premier League."

But the Danish football world did not want Dorgu to join Manchester United, citing the examples of Christian Eriksen and Hojlund, warning the young international that he would be subject to too much scrutiny at Manchester United, which could damage his long-term prospects.

B.T.'s football journalist Vogue said: "I strongly warn Dolgu not to go to Manchester United, because the club is undergoing a massive rebuild, which will take at least a few years, and it is not a good place for young players, because every mistake at this time will be mercilessly criticized by the British media. We can see from Hojlund's current form how damaging it can be to join a team that is always complaining about how much damage a young player's career can be. At Manchester United, all the players are like being watched through a magnifying glass, they are constantly being transferred, and when they don't perform well, playing for a club with so many fans is a lot of pressure."

The development of Lenny Yoro and Joshua Zirkze, who joined last summer, has indeed shown that buying players from outside the Premier League doesn't always make a smooth transition.
