The Chinese Football Federation is expected to be officially established this week, with half of the 18 clubs on the council

Reporter Cheng Shan reported According to the plan, the Chinese Football Federation will be officially established this week, and as its management system enters a new model, the development of the Chinese Football Professional League will also enter a new era. The project, which took more than 10 years to build, was finally completed in early 2025, and to a large extent highlights the determination to govern football at the national level, including professional leagues.

In the past four years, the governing body of the professional league has been the preparatory group of the Chinese Football Federation, and the newly established Chinese Football Federation has a higher level and more comprehensive functions than the previous preparatory group of the Chinese Football Federation:The Chinese Football Federation will become a body alongside the Chinese Football Association, with greater autonomy at a number of functional levels, which will be carried out by the corresponding professional committees of the Chinese Football Federation. At the same time, the three leagues of the Chinese Super League, the Chinese League A and the Chinese League B have set up deliberative committees to be responsible for the relevant policies of their respective leagues. In addition, the newly established Chinese Football Federation will be responsible for the commercial operation of the third-tier league. The specific mode of operation and division of labor will be introduced more clearly after the official establishment of the Chinese Football Federation.

The personnel level of the Chinese Football Federation is the focus of attention of all parties.Li Kemin (pictured below), head of the preparatory group of the Chinese Football Federation, and Yang Xu (bottom), vice chairman of the Chinese Football Association and previously in charge of the league, will be the main leaders. In addition, Lu Xiaolan, director of the Party and Mass Work Department of the Chinese Football Association, is expected to serve as the secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of the Chinese Football Federation, and Shen Rui, director of the Foreign Exchange Department of the Chinese Football Association and vice chairman of the Disciplinary Committee of the AFC, is expected to serve as the secretary-general of the Chinese Football Federation.

The Council of the Chinese Football Federation is the main body of the Chinese Football Federation, and the news shows that there are 18 seats, of which professional clubs will occupy 9 of them, namely 4 Chinese Super League clubs, 3 Chinese League A clubs, and 2 Chinese B clubs. Of course, the final number and composition of the Council shall be subject to the official announcement.

After the formal establishment of the Chinese Football Federation, the Chinese Football Association will fully transfer the functions of professional league management to the Chinese Football Federation, and the Chinese Football Association will assume more regulatory functions of professional leagues, including the supervision of financial policies and other levels of supervision. The Chinese Football Federation will fully assume the relevant matters of the professional league, and the disciplinary punishment and arbitration of the professional league itself are also expected to be transferred to the Chinese Football Federation. In addition to the normal functions of registration and referee management, the Chinese Football Association is more responsible for the construction of the national team, the development of youth football, football diplomacy and other aspects.

The official landing of the Chinese Football Federation does not mean that the management system and sports mechanism of the Chinese professional league are finally mature, and it takes a certain amount of time to sort out the responsibilities and rights of the General Administration of Sports of China, the Chinese Football Association and the Chinese Football Federation, and the internal operating mechanism of the Chinese Football Federation also needs a certain amount of time to sort out. The formal establishment of the Chinese Football Federation is actually the beginning of the reform of the management system of the Chinese professional league, which needs to run for a period of time before it is expected to finally mature and stabilize.
