Dong A Thanh Hoa FC is experiencing major changes in both the coaching bench and player lineup. Following coach Choi Won-kwon, several players will also leave the Thanh Hoa team in the near future.
Coach Choi Won-kwon, born in 1981, was a vital assistant to coach Kim Sang-sik during Vietnam’s ASEAN Cup 2024 championship run, with coaching experience in K.League 1 and participation in the 2004 Athens Olympics.
On the afternoon of November 15, the management company representing the coach and Dong A Thanh Hoa FC simultaneously announced the termination of their contract.

The announcement clearly stated: "DJM, the official agency representing coach Choi Won-kwon, announces that Mr. Choi has ended his contract with Dong A Thanh Hoa FC.
After open and respectful negotiations, coach Choi Won-kwon and Dong A Thanh Hoa FC mutually agreed to terminate the contract. This decision was entirely due to the club’s financial restructuring and resource adjustments, requiring Dong A Thanh Hoa to implement necessary changes to ensure long-term stability.
DJM confirms that this separation is unrelated to coaching skills, ability, or team results. During his three months at Dong A Thanh Hoa FC, coach Choi brought professionalism, modern training methods, and strict discipline, helping the team achieve positive outcomes in the early stage of the 2025/26 V.League season.
We sincerely thank Dong A Thanh Hoa FC for their cooperation during this period and also express gratitude to the fans who have consistently supported coach Choi.
DJM and coach Choi Won-kwon remain optimistic and will announce their next steps at an appropriate time."
Following coach Choi Won-kwon, Dong A Thanh Hoa FC also said farewell to several key players such as center-back Quế Ngọc Hải, foreign player Lucas Ribamar, and young striker Võ Nguyên Hoàng.
