A Manchester United player suffered a knee injury after the draw with Tottenham, causing outrage in the national team due to lack of any official information from the "Red Devils".
Forward Benjamin Sesko of Manchester United will miss the upcoming World Cup qualifiers with Slovenia after sustaining a knee injury in the 2-2 draw against Tottenham last weekend. Although medical checks revealed the injury was not severe, both MU’s coaching staff and coach Ruben Amorim decided to keep Sesko for treatment, leaving the Slovenian team unsettled.
Sesko was brought on during the second half against Tottenham but had to leave the pitch before the match ended due to knee pain. After the game, coach Amorim admitted his concerns: “The issue isn’t performance, it’s a knee injury. With injuries like this, we cannot take it lightly.” Subsequent examinations showed the Slovenian forward did not suffer a serious injury, but to avoid risks, he will miss the matches against Kosovo and Sweden with the national team.
However, Slovenia’s head coach Matjaz Kek expressed dissatisfaction as MU has yet to provide any official notification. He stated bluntly: “With all due respect to a big club like Manchester United, we have not received any medical reports or documents. We want our medical staff to conduct direct assessments. This is a matter of mutual respect.”
Kek also emphasized that his primary concern is the player’s health but firmly stated: “The national team is sacred, and we deserve the utmost respect.”
Sesko, expected to be Slovenia’s key attacker in the upcoming matches, was commented on by forward Andraz Sporar: “We will miss Beni a lot. Hopefully, the injury isn’t too serious, for both the team and his career.”
After the international break, Sesko is expected to return when MU faces Everton on November 24. The high-value new signing is still struggling to regain form, having scored only 2 goals in 11 Premier League appearances. Coach Amorim believes the young player must “accept challenges and overcome difficulties” to prove himself at Old Trafford.
