Prior to assembling with the U23 Vietnam team, central defender Đinh Quang Kiệt marked his presence with a goal that ensured HAGL held on for a draw against Thanh Hoá.
Đinh Quang Kiệt’s goal came in the 10th minute of added time in the second half. From a corner kick delivered by a teammate, the 1.9m tall defender was perfectly positioned to finish and seal a 1-1 draw for the home team. This was also the first goal of the season for the 2007-born player at HAGL.
Đinh Quang Kiệt was promoted to HAGL’s first team two seasons ago. However, it was only this season, after Phạm Lý Đức’s departure, that Quang Kiệt got the chance to play regularly and become a key figure in the Mountain Town club’s defense. With his notable height, Quang Kiệt consistently shows an advantage in aerial duels. In the past, this defender was even pushed forward to play as a striker to capitalize on headers and score goals.
Notably, this goal will also serve as a huge morale boost for Quang Kiệt right before meeting coach Kim Sang Sik. Specifically, on November 10th, Quang Kiệt will join Trung Kiên to assemble with the U23 Vietnam team for a training camp in China, aiming towards SEA Games 33. Conversely, coach Kim Sang Sik will gain additional young and promising players for the important regional competition.
Previously, Đinh Quang Kiệt had been called up by coach Kim Sang Sik for the September and October training camps.
