Vietnamese overseas player Ibrahim Maza significantly contributed to Bayer Leverkusen’s triumph against Heidenheim in the 10th round of the Bundesliga.
Leverkusen showed overwhelming strength against Heidenheim with a crushing victory in the 10th round of the Bundesliga.
During the 90 minutes at BayArena, Ibrahim Maza was arguably the most impressive player on the pitch. The Vietnamese overseas talent born in 2005 shone by scoring two precise goals, one in first-half stoppage time and the other just eight minutes into the second half.
Beyond his brace, Maza was a constant threat to the opposing defense. The statistics clearly reflect this: he won 12 duels despite being the most pressured player with 19 challenges. Nevertheless, Maza maintained composure and skill, successfully escaping pressing 77% of the time.
Maza’s energetic and creative play laid the foundation for Leverkusen’s dominance, earning him the well-deserved Man of the Match award. The statistics website SofaScore also gave Maza a perfect score of 10 after his brilliant performance.
Notably, this was only the third time the Vietnamese-origin talent started for Leverkusen in the Bundesliga this season, after five appearances as a substitute. Additionally, the brace against Heidenheim marked his first goals for the 2005-born rising star at BayArena, following a goal against Paderborn in the German Cup.
Ibrahim Maza was born on November 24, 2005, in Berlin, Germany, to a Vietnamese mother and an Algerian father. At age six in 2011, he began his football journey at Reinickendorfer Fuchse, a club competing in Germany’s sixth division. After seven years of development there, Maza moved to Hertha Berlin’s youth academy in 2018 to further his career.
Last summer, Ibrahim Maza joined Leverkusen for a transfer fee of 12 million euros, becoming the most expensive Vietnamese-origin player in football history.
