For the second time in a row, Viettel FC has faced disruptions due to G-Dragon's live performances.
The number one star in K-Pop entertainment, G-Dragon is set to hold two concerts in Hung Yen on November 8 and 9, drawing thousands of enthusiastic fans. However, the first night of the G-DRAGON 2025 WORLD TOUR [Übermensch] IN HANOI on the evening of November 8 significantly impacted a V-League match.
The reason was the sudden surge of attendees traveling to Vinhomes Ocean Park 3 Hung Yen for G-Dragon’s concert, which caused Viettel FC to be unable to arrive on time for their match. In the 11th round of the V-League, Viettel had to play away against PVF CAND, with the venue also located in Hung Yen.
Additionally, an accident on Thanh Tri Bridge further complicated Viettel FC’s journey to PVF CAND’s home ground. After discussions, the league organizers agreed to postpone the match between Viettel and PVF CAND by one hour, moving the kickoff from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
It was reported that Viettel FC arrived at PVF stadium at 6:20 PM, 40 minutes before the match started. Concerned about limited warm-up time, Coach Popov had the players warm up on the bus to prepare as best as possible for the game against PVF CAND.
An interesting detail is that G-Dragon and Viettel FC seem to have a "connection." Previously, in the 26th round of the 2024/2025 V-League, Viettel had to borrow Lach Tray Stadium to play against TP HCM FC (now renamed CA TP HCM) because their home stadium My Dinh was occupied for a music concert. The most notable star at that concert was G-Dragon, who performed in Hanoi for the first time as the K-Pop king.
Facing a weaker opponent in PVF CAND, Viettel was expected to aim for victory to continue the three-way championship race with Ninh Binh FC and CAHN for the V-League title. Over the past 1-2 years, Viettel has consistently encountered difficulties with their stadium arrangements. From having to leave Hang Day Stadium to choosing Viettel Stadium as home but still frequently borrowing other venues due to music concerts.
