At the press conference before the Premier League 2025/26 round 11 clash with Manchester United, Tottenham’s head coach Thomas Frank showed great respect for Amorim and his achievements since taking charge of the Red Devils. He also praised his former player Bryan Mbeumo.
Manchester United Recently, they drew 2-2 with Nottingham Forest, following three consecutive Premier League wins against Sunderland, Liverpool, and Brighton. This impressive run earned Ruben Amorim the Premier League Manager of the Month award for October.
Additionally, Bryan Mbeumo’s outstanding performance has been crucial to the Red Devils’ progress, and he was named Premier League Player of the Month on Friday.
During the press conference ahead of the Premier League 2025/26 round 11 match against Manchester United, when asked what he expected most from the opponent, Tottenham’s head coach Thomas Frank did not hide his admiration for manager Ruben Amorim:
“The first and most obvious thing is that you can see Manchester United now is a much more confident team. I think Amorim and his coaching staff have done an excellent job. Clearly, this has been a challenging year for them and for Amorim personally. I really admire Amorim for overcoming a very turbulent period filled with many obstacles. Maintaining focus to get through that time is commendable.
We can see the details Amorim is trying to build becoming clearer. It’s not just a tactical system but a specific style of play, and Manchester United are executing it better and better. Currently, Manchester United have almost all key players available, and Amorim has found his strongest lineup. They have used nearly the same squad for the last four or five matches, so we know exactly what to expect.
I think they have a very dangerous attacking trio. They are playing at a higher speed and tempo, and we need to tightly mark them. On the other hand, we must force them to retreat more because we will be attacking as well.”
When asked if he was surprised to see his former pupil Thomas Frank performing so well, Thomas Frank showed no surprise:
“No, I’m not surprised. Of course, allow me to step out of my Tottenham coach role for a moment! When you work with a player for six years, you develop a very close relationship with him. It’s wonderful to watch the journey from a 19-year-old arriving in London and Brentford to leaving six years later to join one of the biggest clubs in the world, facing immense pressure but managing to rise to the occasion.
From an outside perspective, maybe a bit biased, but I believe he is Manchester United’s best attacking player. He can create chances, score goals, work hard, and is a team player.
In my eyes, he is the perfect example of a player with the right attitude—confident yet humble. He is a top-class player. I think he will be extremely successful. I truly wish him the best, of course not in the upcoming match, but in the long run, I hope everything goes well for him.”
The Tottenham vs. Manchester United clash will significantly shake up the Premier League standings. Currently, apart from Arsenal leading the table, the gap between Tottenham and Manchester United and the second place is just 2 points.
