Despite his excellent form at Truong Tuoi Dong Nai FC, midfielder Tran Minh Vuong still hasn’t had the chance to rejoin the Vietnam national team.
On November 6, Coach Kim Sang Sik announced the list of 23 players called up to prepare for the match against Laos national team scheduled for November 18. In this call-up, besides players currently injured, some others also caused disappointment by not being selected by the Korean coach. Among them is midfielder Tran Minh Vuong.
Born in 1995, the player has shown extremely impressive form since transferring to Truong Tuoi Dong Nai for the 2025/26 season. With Cong Phuong injured and unable to play any matches this season, Minh Vuong has become a leader and key figure for the "Green Warriors." He has scored 5 goals in 6 rounds and provided 3 assists, currently leading the top scorer chart in the First Division.
However, playing in the First Division may be one of the reasons why Minh Vuong was not called up to the national team. Coach Kim Sang Sik usually only scouts players in the V-League, making it difficult for him to assess players competing in the lower division. Last season, when Van Lam played for Ninh Binh in the First Division, he was also not summoned by Coach Kim.
The last time Minh Vuong was called to the national team was in 2022 under Coach Park Hang Seo. Tran Minh Vuong belongs to the talented generation of HAGL players, alongside Cong Phuong, Xuan Truong, Tuan Anh, and Van Toan. However, compared to his teammates, Minh Vuong has been more low-key. This season, he officially parted ways with HAGL after 18 years to seek new opportunities.
With the presence of Minh Vuong, Xuan Truong, Cong Phuong, and several other experienced players, Dong Nai is currently one of the top contenders for the First Division championship, which means promotion next season.
