Amorim has told Manchester United that to challenge for a top-four finish this winter transfer window, they must sign a midfielder! He hopes to renew contracts with the two veterans, and Cunha supports this.

An insider at Manchester United revealed that Ruben Amorim has informed the club’s leadership that if they want to secure a top-four spot this season, they need to bring in a quality midfielder during the January transfer window. Although United currently sit eighth, they are just 2 points behind second-placed Manchester City.

However, one of United’s concerns is the midfield position. Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes have recently performed well, but their substitutes are considered by Amorim to be lacking in quality. Players like Cody Gakpo and Ugarte have recently struggled to earn the trust of the Red Devils’ head coach.

The insider stated that Amorim told the owners the team must acquire another excellent midfielder. According to "TEAMtalk," Manchester United plans to sign a midfielder in January, but they do not intend to make a reckless signing; the player must be someone who can make a significant impact on the team.

British media report that Manchester United views Nottingham Forest’s Elliott Anderson as a highly ideal and feasible target. However, United’s offer of £60 million falls over £20 million short of Forest’s asking price. Wolves’ Brazilian player João Gomes has also been linked with United again, as the team faces relegation and Gomes is considering leaving.

Amorim also expressed his desire for Casemiro and Harry Maguire to remain at Manchester United after this season. The 33-year-old Casemiro has seven months left on his contract, but the club holds an option to extend it for another year; 32-year-old Maguire’s contract expires in June with no extension clause, and negotiations over a new contract have already begun.

This Premier League season, Casemiro has appeared 8 times, scoring 3 goals and providing 1 assist. However, Casemiro is one of three United players earning over £300,000 per week, and the club is unlikely to continue offering him a £350,000 weekly wage. Maguire earns £190,000 per week, and the club has requested a wage reduction for his contract renewal.

When asked about the futures of Casemiro and Maguire, Amorim said: "We don’t know what will happen yet. My goal remains to continue relying on Casemiro, and Maguire faces the same situation. I don’t know what the future holds; for now, we focus on this season. I’m very satisfied with Casemiro; he is truly important. I’m also pleased with Maguire. But I know what you’re thinking—let’s focus on this season first, and next season we can consider it later."

Casemiro’s Brazilian teammate Cunha also supports keeping him. Cunha said: "His achievements over the past few years certainly make it easier to talk about his abilities—his success in football is evident. Every day, he proves through his actions why he has achieved such outstanding results. Whether in training or on the pitch, he is very focused. And when communicating with others, he is always serious and polite. He has a winner’s mentality and is always willing to help me, which is fantastic."

Cunha added: "I remember when I was called up to the Brazilian national team, he was always by my side. It’s very interesting because now we play together at Manchester United, and he has long been an important player in the national team. He won many honors at Real Madrid. Now that we work together, we always communicate, just like at Real Madrid, hoping to win more championships for him. That way, I can decorate my home walls with more trophies!"

Cunha hopes to bring glorious days back to Manchester United alongside Casemiro. But he understands there is still a long way to go to reach the level of Cantona, to whom he is often compared. "Cantona was a truly remarkable player. I still have a lot to achieve before I can be compared to him. But when people compare me, I always try to see the positive side. I am very honored to be linked to Cantona; he made history. If I can achieve even a part of what he did, I will be very happy. As someone who plays for Manchester United and loves football, I always strive to represent the interests of all my teammates on the field. My only goal is to restore Manchester United to its former glory."

Last season, while playing for Wolves, Cunha had a close conversation with Manchester United’s coach Amorim after a match. About what they discussed, Cunha revealed: "At Old Trafford, he told me to be careful today and asked for my thoughts on the pitch. At Wolves’ home ground, I also told him to be cautious! He can inspire us to move forward, which is the most important quality a coach can have in a critical environment. Now, with better results emerging, he can ignite passion, make you enjoy joining the team, and motivate you to work hard for him and the club, to show your potential and improve. He is someone passionate about his work, and he has made us understand the responsibility of wearing this jersey and the qualities expected of a Manchester United player."

Recalling the details of joining Manchester United, Cunha said: "When the club approached me and invited me to join, I truly felt honored. Joining the club was a dream come true for me. I was willing to do anything for the club, even give my life. Manchester United is the club I wanted to join. This happened shortly before the Europa League final... I don’t quite remember the exact day. Amorim came here and showed me his plans, along with a jersey bearing the number 10 on the back, convincing me to join."

At Manchester United, Cunha’s best friend is England international Luke Shaw. He can’t explain how their friendship came about. "I don’t know! I really don’t know! I can’t answer your question," Cunha said. "When I first arrived, he was always by my side, willing to help me, discuss matches, or train together. Then we started building a bond. I like to joke every day and use a humorous smile to make teammates happier. Maybe he likes that and appreciates me doing it, so we developed a great relationship. Our positions on the field are also close, both on the left side, and he has been a great support to me."
