This training camp brings together the strongest squad of the U22 Vietnam team since the beginning of this year, featuring players carefully selected through multiple training sessions and international matches, including key members who helped the U23 Vietnam team win the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship and qualify for the 2026 AFC U23 Championship final round.
In this U22 Vietnam camp, young players who recently represented the senior Vietnam team in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers, such as goalkeeper Trần Trung Kiên, Khuất Văn Khang, Nguyễn Đình Bắc, have also been called up for training.
Notably, striker Bùi Vĩ Hào, who has just returned after a long injury break since March 2025, has been recalled to the U22 Vietnam squad. Vĩ Hào is a key player under Coach Kim Sang-sik with extensive experience and strong competitive spirit. If he meets the requirements, he will strengthen the U22 Vietnam team’s attacking force.
Coach Kim Sang-sik surprisingly excluded overseas Vietnamese midfielder Trần Thanh Trung from this training list. The midfielder, who plays for Ninh Bình Club, was injured during the 9th round of the 2025-2026 V-League season.
In this training camp, Russian-born Vietnamese player Lê Viktor is the only overseas Vietnamese participant.
According to the plan, the U22 Vietnam team will gather on November 9 under the leadership of Coach Đinh Hồng Vinh, then depart for China to compete in the CFA Team China Panda Cup 2025.
The CFA Team China Panda Cup 2025 features four U22 teams from China, South Korea, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam, taking place from November 12 to 18 in Chengdu (Sichuan, China).
This tournament is considered an important preparatory step for Coach Kim Sang-sik’s squad ahead of the 33rd SEA Games.
After the friendly tournament in China, the U22 Vietnam team will enter a final training camp in Vung Tau from November 23 as a rehearsal for the 33rd SEA Games. The entire team will then travel to Thailand on December 2 to participate in the Southeast Asian Games.
At the 33rd SEA Games, U22 Vietnam is in Group B alongside U22 Malaysia and U22 Laos. The team’s opening match, led by Coach Kim Sang-sik, will be against U22 Laos at 6:30 PM on December 4, followed by the match against U22 Malaysia at 6:30 PM on December 11.
The three group winners plus the best runner-up will advance to the SEA Games 33 semifinals. The semifinals will be held on December 15, while the bronze medal and final matches are scheduled for December 18.
