Supercomputer predicts surprising outcome for Tottenham vs MU

The Opta supercomputer has delivered forecasts and data about the clash between Tottenham and Man Utd in the 11th round of the Premier League.

In the earliest match of round 11 in the Premier League, Man Utd faces a challenging away game at Tottenham’s stadium. Despite being on a four-game unbeaten streak (3 wins, 1 draw), the "Red Devils" are still considered the underdogs in the upcoming London fixture.

According to the supercomputer’s prediction Opta, after simulating 10,000 match scenarios, Tottenham wins in 47.5% of cases. The remaining two outcomes, a Man Utd victory or a draw, have almost equal probabilities.

Specifically, the chance of Man Utd winning is 26.4%, slightly higher than the probability of a draw at 26.2%. However, this difference is minimal. To secure all three points, the visitors must overcome both their unfavorable history against the "Spurs" and the supercomputer’s forecast.

According to statistics from Opta, Man Utd is currently on a seven-match winless run against Tottenham across all competitions, losing five times, including four consecutive defeats. The last team to achieve a similar streak against Man Utd was Liverpool, from 2000 to 2002.

Last season, Tottenham made a strong impression by defeating Man Utd four times, including a win in the UEFA Europa League final. They also beat their rivals 1-0 at home in the Premier League and secured a 4-3 victory at Tottenham’s ground in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.

Tottenham is experiencing an inconsistent run in the Premier League. Under coach Thomas Frank, the team has suffered two consecutive losses in England’s top-flight, including defeats to Newcastle and Chelsea.

Additionally, the London club is currently facing the Premier League’s most severe injury crisis, with 10 players sidelined. Mohammed Kudus might return, but key players like Lucas Bergvall, Yves Bissouma, Dominic Solanke, Dejan Kulusevski, and James Maddison are definitely out.

On Man Utd’s side, the squad will be almost complete for the upcoming match, with Lisandro Martinez the only confirmed absentee.

The Old Trafford team is also enjoying stable form with a four-game unbeaten streak in the Premier League, their best run since coach Ruben Amorim took charge. The last time the "Red Devils" had a better streak was in January and February 2024, when they went five games unbeaten and scored at least two goals in each match.

Nevertheless, Tottenham defeated Man Utd in both fixtures last season and still holds a strong advantage in recent encounters. Therefore, the result of the upcoming game remains highly unpredictable.

The match between Tottenham and Man Utd will kick off at 7:30 PM tomorrow (November 8).
