Arsenal plans to 'sacrifice' Trossard in exchange for the Serie A prodigy

Leandro Trossard desires to renew his contract with Arsenal, yet the London side is contemplating using him as part of a trade to sign Juventus' rising star Kenan Yildiz, worth 60 million Euros.

Leandro Trossard is becoming a focal point at Arsenal as he expresses his wish to negotiate a new deal just months after receiving a pay raise last summer. Joining the Gunners from Brighton in January 2021 for 21 million Pounds, the Belgian forward currently has two years remaining on his contract.

Despite recently improving his terms, Trossard still wants long-term security while performing at a high level. He stated: “I have two years left on my contract, and then I will see what the club wants and how they view me at that time. I am very happy at Arsenal and hope to win trophies here.”

However, according to The Sun, while Trossard wants to stay, Arsenal's management has other plans. Coach Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta are reportedly “crazy” about Juventus' young talent Kenan Yildiz. The Gunners are preparing a 60 million Euro offer plus Trossard to acquire the 20-year-old who is making a strong impression in Serie A.

Juventus remains firm, valuing Yildiz between 80 and 100 million Euros, a figure that challenges Arsenal's ambitions. Although Trossard is an experienced player capable of playing multiple attacking roles, his approaching 31 years of age makes Juventus less interested in this proposal.

Arsenal is currently pursuing a long-term strategy aiming to build a youthful, sustainable squad. Under Arteta, several stars like William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhães, and Ethan Nwaneri have renewed their contracts. Bukayo Saka is also close to signing a new deal, considered a “blockbuster” in terms of salary and rewards, reflecting his iconic role at the club.

Simultaneously, Arsenal is negotiating a contract extension with Dutch defender Jurrien Timber, regarded as a future key player. The club also holds an option to extend Declan Rice's deal by one year, a player who has proven his worth since joining.

In the context of Arsenal wanting to rejuvenate the squad and aim for long-term success, Trossard, although still valuable, could become a “strategic asset” to trade for another promising gem for the future.
