The 40-year-old forward emphasized that he is no longer obsessed with the world title but only wishes to continue “pushing his personal limits.” Furthermore, CR7 compared the level of play in the Saudi Pro League with top European leagues: “Scoring in Saudi is even harder than in La Liga. People think it’s easy here, but ask other players — to perform well in the Saudi League, you really have to be top class.”

Now, Ronaldo is stirring things up again with a new claim: demanding that the goals he scores in the Saudi Pro League be counted towards the Golden Boot, the European Golden Shoe award. During the chat with Piers Morgan, CR7 angrily questioned:

“Why aren’t goals in the Saudi League counted for the Golden Boot? Why not? Just ask other players how tough it is to play in Saudi... Maybe they think I’m saying this for personal reasons, but ask others!”

According to Ronaldo, playing and scoring in Saudi Arabia is far from easy, given the different playing environment, climate conditions, and tactical styles compared to Europe. However, this statement quickly sparked intense debate. The European Golden Boot, recognized by the International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS) and European organizations, is exclusively for leagues within the UEFA system. Each goal in Europe is weighted by league difficulty, while leagues outside Europe, including the Saudi Pro League, are not included in the scoring system.
