The U17 Vietnam team has arrived in Ehime, set for the training period in Japan.
On the afternoon of November 6th, the U17 Vietnam team landed in Ehime Prefecture, Japan, commencing a training camp lasting over a week to finalize preparations for the 2026 AFC U17 Asian Cup qualifiers. This training trip is part of the plan developed by the Vietnam Football Federation, aiming to provide young players with international match experience and skill enhancement.
Before heading to Japan, Coach Cristiano Roland and his squad concluded their domestic training phase with a “return leg” friendly match against U17 Cambodia at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center. In this match, U17 Vietnam continued their impressive form by winning decisively 5-0, with Nguyễn Văn Dương and Vũ Long Nhật each scoring twice, and Chu Ngọc Nguyễn Lực adding another goal.
Reflecting on the recent preparation period, Coach Cristiano Roland expressed satisfaction with the players’ training spirit and progress. The Brazilian coach noted that over the past month, the players have consistently shown a relaxed mindset and strong desire while wearing the national team jersey. They have adapted well to the playing philosophy set by the coaching staff, understand their roles clearly, and compete with high confidence. This foundation is crucial for the team to be at their strongest going into the 2026 AFC U17 Asian Cup qualifiers.
In Japan, the U17 Vietnam team is scheduled to play three international friendly matches against carefully selected opponents to meet the coaching staff’s technical requirements. Specifically, they will face U18 Imabari on November 8th, Matsuyama University on November 11th, and U18 Ehime on November 13th.
After the training camp, the U17 Vietnam team will return home on November 15th to begin the final preparation stage before participating in the 2026 AFC U17 Asian Cup qualifiers, which will take place from November 22nd to 30th, 2025, in Hanoi and Hung Yen.
Training and competing in Japan — a country with one of Asia’s leading youth development systems — is expected to help U17 Vietnam players gain valuable experience, aiming to secure a spot in the 2026 AFC U17 Asian Cup finals.
