Thomas Tuchel is said to have made an important choice concerning Jude Bellingham before the official England squad list is released.
England has officially secured qualification for the 2026 World Cup after securing two overwhelming victories against Wales and Latvia in last month’s matches. Later this month, coach Thomas Tuchel’s team will continue their qualifying campaign with back-to-back games against Serbia and Albania.
Tuchel is expected to announce the squad on Friday (UK time), with much attention on whether he will recall Jude Bellingham, who was left out of the previous call-up.
Bellingham has just fully recovered from shoulder surgery and is ready to return. However, Tuchel explained last time that his exclusion was a “professional decision.”
The Real Madrid star recently started in the 0-1 loss to Liverpool in the Champions League and when asked about the possibility of rejoining the national teamthe 2003-born player gave a brief response: “I am not the one who makes that decision. Everyone knows who holds that authority.”
According to The Guardian,Tuchel has changed his mind and will include Bellingham in the squad announced on Friday. His presence is expected to add depth to the midfield, especially in the number 10 attacking midfield role.
Besides Bellingham, the German coach has also selected Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa along with players like Eberechi Eze, Morgan Gibbs-White, Cole Palmer, and Phil Foden. However, Palmer is injured and will miss out, while Foden’s inclusion remains uncertain after being omitted from the October squad.
So far this season, Bellingham has made 10 appearances for Real Madrid and is expected to start again when the Royal Club faces Rayo Vallecano this weekend. He has also earned 43 caps for England and is likely to increase that number in the upcoming call-up.
