The Vietnam National Team keeps receiving good news from a crucial member after Xuan Son’s comeback post-injury.
The call-up list for the Vietnam National Team in November will be announced soon. The news that Xuan Son has been recalled for the match against Laos in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers has brought great joy to fans. The naturalized striker has fully recovered and is completely ready to play.
Besides Xuan Son’s return, the Vietnam National Team has received more excellent news from another key player, Filip Nguyen. The Vietnamese goalkeeper of foreign origin has fully recovered from injury and played in CAHN’s match against Macarthur in the AFC Cup on November 6. Filip Nguyen’s faster-than-expected recovery right before the national team’s training camp reassures coach Kim Sang Sik about the goalkeeping position.
With Trung Kien called up to the U23 Vietnam squad preparing for the 33rd SEA Games, the Vietnam National Team will rely on Filip Nguyen’s experience and quality to prepare for the Laos match. Although Laos is considered a weaker opponent, having a top-class goalkeeper provides confidence to the players on the field.
Previously, goalkeeper Nguyen Filip suffered a recurrence of injury during CAHN’s home game against Macarthur at Hang Day Stadium on the evening of October 23. Initial reports indicated he would be sidelined for about two months to recover.
However, the Vietnamese goalkeeper has consistently shortened his recovery time compared to expectations. At first, Nguyen Filip was expected to rest only two weeks (three matches) before returning. Then, Filip Nguyen was able to play in the second leg match in Australia on November 6.
In the two matches without Nguyen Filip, coach Mano Polking gave opportunities to young goalkeeper Vu Thanh Vinh. Acting as his substitute, the 2005-born player performed impressively, contributing to two clean sheets in the police football club’s victories. Unfortunately, upon Filip Nguyen’s return, CAHN suffered a 1-2 defeat against Macarthur.
