Lamine Yamal confirms that his hip injury is not related to any romantic issues

Following the Champions League game with Club Brugge, Yamal candidly responded to unfounded gossip concerning his hip injury and private matters.

The match in Belgium saw a Barcelona side dominating ball possession but struggling against Club Brugge’s sharp counterattacks. After trailing 1-2 in the first half, Yamal shone brilliantly in the 61st minute.

He linked up smoothly with Fermin Lopez, skillfully dribbled past four opponents, and finished with a precise shot to equalize 2-2 for Barcelona. This goal not only boosted the team’s morale but was also praised by experts as “the best goal of the 4th round of the 2025/26 Champions League.”

Not stopping there, the young star left his mark again in the 77th minute by delivering a tricky cross that caused Christos Tzolis of Club Brugge to awkwardly score an own goal, sealing a 3-3 draw. With one goal and two direct contributions, Yamal proved he remains the biggest hope for coach Hansi Flick in Barcelona’s quest to reclaim their status in Europe.

Speaking after the match, Yamal expressed regret that his team couldn’t secure all three points: “We know Club Brugge is a strong team, it’s very hard to win when they score three goals. I’m happy with my goal, but it’s unfortunate we couldn’t achieve the victory.”

Notably, Yamal also directly addressed the false rumors about his hip injury and private life. Recently, some sources claimed his performance declined due to fitness issues and a relationship with Argentine singer Nicki Nicole. The young Spanish talent expressed his frustration: “I am very upset because they have fabricated many untrue stories. I have always focused on recovery and working hard to return to my best form. Everything they say is lies.”

When asked about being booed by opposing fans during the match, Yamal simply smiled and replied: “They whistle because I’m an important player for Barcelona. If I were just an ordinary person, they probably wouldn’t react like that.”

Barcelona will travel to face Celta Vigo this weekend, and coach Hansi Flick will definitely need an inspired Yamal like the one in Brugge if the team wants to keep competing for the La Liga title.
